警放蛇打擊白牌車 拘3司機

3輛肇事車輛均懷疑被非法改裝，已被扣查作進一步檢驗。警方提供圖片
新界南總區交通部特遣隊根據線報，今日上午9時於區內進行打擊非法駕駛汽車作出租用途的執法行動。
警方派員喬裝乘客租用兩輛私家車，分別由荃灣及葵涌前往機場航展道，兩名司機分別收取車資約400元及430元。此外，警方亦派員喬裝乘客，以約110元車資租用一輛輕型貨車由荃灣前往火炭。
當抵達目的地時，警員隨即表露身份，40歲姓廖私家車男司機、44歲姓陳私家車女司機及59歲姓孔輕型貨車男司機涉嫌「非法駕駛汽車作出租或載客取酬用途」及「駕駛汽車時沒有第三者保險」被捕。所有被捕人士已獲准保釋候查，須於5月上旬向警方報到。另外，3輛肇事車輛均懷疑被非法改裝，涉嫌違反「道路交通（車輛結構及保養）條例」，已被扣查作進一步檢驗。

警方強調，根據香港法例第374章《道路交通條例》有關「車輛使用的限制」的條文，除非獲發有關牌照，否則任何人不得駕駛或容許他人駕駛或使用汽車，以作出租或取酬載客用途，首次定罪可判罰款5,000元及監禁3個月，再干犯則可處罰1萬元及監禁6個月。
根據香港法例第272章《汽車保險（第三者風險）條例》，任何人若沒有為汽車購買第三者保險，即屬違法，可判罰款1萬元及監禁12個月，並吊銷駕駛執照12個月至3年不等，車輛並且會被吊銷牌照及被扣押。
由於非法出租載客取酬的車輛沒有第三者保險，乘客及其他車輛或道路使用者都可能失去應有的保障，警方呼籲市民切勿租用有關車輛。而有關涉案私家車車主，亦須要負上刑事責任。
警方強調，十分重視涉及非法使用汽車作出租或載客取酬用途的案件，並會繼續針對性的執法行動，打擊相關罪行。
